April 18, 2015, 18:14 GMT
The representatives of Roscosmos organizations participated in the How to Become a Cosmonaut talk show within the framework of the Moscow International Education Festival on April 18, 2015, in Moscow’s Expocenter exhibition center.
In their speeches, Roscosmos test cosmonaut, hero of Russia Sergei Revin, head of manned space complex department of the United Rocket and Space Corporation Valentin Uvarov, and deputy head of space research organization chair (Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia) of TsNIIMash Vladimir Pinchuk told the school and university students where Russian cosmonauts work and train, what it means to be a cosmonaut, how one can become a cosmonaut and what kind of knowledge is necessary. They also answered the numerous questions.
Roscosmos introduced a special prize for the participants of the creative scientific and technical youth contest who worked on projects in the section of aerospace technology. Sergei Revin and Valentin Uvarov handed Roscosmos memorable prizes and Educational Festival medals to Moscow Aviation Institute students Kirill Kovalenko, Denis Prudnik, and Maxim Zlobin for their Aerostart research project (a concept of a novel platform for launching rockets to the Earth’s orbit).
Head of manned space complex department of the United Rocket and Space Corporation Valentin Uvarov notes, “To conquer the space, we must make constant progress, obtain and process novel data, design new equipment, and use innovational technologies. Only a broadly educated person can process such a great bulk of information. Certainly, it is necessary to move further and further, achieve better results, and set more complex goals”.
