Roscosmos: Russian Cosmonauts Will Work in Outer Space

In compliance with the working schedule of the International Space Station, on August 10, 2015, the crew of the ISS-44/45 Russian segment will carry out a spacewalk.
The opening of the exit hatch of Pirs docking compartment is scheduled for 5.14 p.m. Moscow time. Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Kornienko are going to stay on the external surface of the ISS for approximately 6 hours 28 minutes.
The main spacewalk objectives are:

The main spacewalk objectives are:

installation of the soft rails on Zvezda service module;
-
installation of WAL1-WAL5 antennas fasteners for the inter-board radio connection antenna-feeder device;
-
dismantling of the plasma potential sensor unit of plasma-and-wave complex designed for Obstanovka space experiment;
-
within the framework of Test space experiment, Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Kornienko, using the scientific equipment for collecting microorganisms from the ISS surface, will take samples from solar batteries No.4, the radiator’s panel of the working compartment and in the area of drainage valves of Air and Electron systems;
-
replacement of WAL6 antenna in the inter-board radio connection antenna-feeder device;
-
changing the orientation of the pressure and deposition control unit device on Poisk mini-research module (MIM-2);
-
cleaning the glass of illuminator No.2 on the service module;
-
photography of Expose-R scientific equipment and of Electron system’s fitting.
Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Kornienko have experience of extravehicular activity. The upcoming spacewalk for Mikhail Kornienko will be the 2nd in his career, and the 10th for Gennady Padalka, the ISS commander. The other ISS- 44/45 crew members will support their colleagues from on board the ISS.
