ROSCOSMOS. SUCCESSFUL SPACE LAUNCH VEHICLE SOYUZ-2.1B LIFTOFF FROM PLESETSK SPACE CENTER

29 May 2016 at 11:44 MT the launch vehicle (LV) Soyuz-2.1b with upper stage Fregat and Glonass satellite successfully lifted off from Plesetsk Space Center. The launch was performed by specialists of Defense Ministry and specialists of Russian aerospace industry.
The first three stages of the Soyuz LV have taken the Fregat upper stage and Glonass satellite into low orbit just short of nine minutes after liftoff. Then the reignitable Fregat took over the task of hauling the satellite on the preprogrammed orbit. As scheduled, the Glonass satellite successfully kicked-off the Fregat upper stage.
The GLONASS orbit group provides a solution to problems of global positioning in the interests of the Russian Defense Ministry and civilian users. Access to civilian navigation signals of global navigation satellite system GLONASS is provided to Russian and foreign consumers free of charge and without any restriction.
