Russian Geographical Society festival

The 4th Russian Geographical Society festival took place in Moscow Zaryadye park. The festival motto was “Discovering Russia again! Together!” dedicated to domestic tourism. Roscosmos acted as a partner of the vast educational program.

 

During the 10-day festival the guests got acquainted with Russian nature, cultural heritage of the peoples of the country and could easily plan their journey to the regions of Russia. The guests could also take part in dozens of lectures, master classes, movies, quizzes and concerts. The festival included thematic days of Bashkortostan and Ural, day of the sign language. 30 regions took part in the festival.

 

The educational program of the festival included meetings with pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of the Russian Federation Alexander Lazutkin; academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, associate fellow of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics named after K.E. Tsiolkovsky Mikhail Kuznetsov and the Russian Cosmonautics Museums Association Executive Director Alexander Marusev.

 

During the dialogue with Alexander Lazutkin, the guests discussed careers in the space industry, with many of them being interested in the peculiarities of being a professional cosmonaut. Alexander Lazutkin spoke about the emergencies during a spaceflight and shared his life rule, which appeared after staying in a spacecraft for half a year: “When you take up something, always calculate all the risks – then you will succeed”.

 

At the “Ground space tourism” interactive lecture Mikhail Kuznetsov and Alexander Marusev spoke about interesting tourist destinations including historical and memorable places of the space industry and visiting active space industry objects: the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the Vostochny Cosmodrome, Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, state and memorial cosmonautics museums.

 

The exhibition included exclusive mock-ups of Orlan-M spacesuit and Soyuz-2 carrier rocket presented by Roscosmos. The guests were able to watch videos dedicated to the rocket and space industry.
