Emergencies monitoring

Roscosmos continues monitoring the emergencies via the Russian orbit group. During the period from July 23 to July 30, 2020, more than 1.2 million square kilometers of data was sent to Russia’s Emergencies Ministry (201 routes excluding cloudy routes and those of several simultaneous requests).

 

During the abovementioned period, at the request of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry, the following events were monitored:

 

  • Bureya river estuary situation monitoring (Khabarovsk Krai);
  • Fire hazardous situation in the Republic of Sakha (several districts);
  • Hydrological situation in Moscow Oblast, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Tuva, Dagestan;
  • Landslide danger in Elbrussky District;
  • Petrochemicals spill in Khabarovsk Krai;
  • Natural fires in Bashkortostan;
  • Aircraft search in Buryatia;
  • Green stone landslide in Novosibirsk Oblast.

 

As part of the International Charter on Space & Major Disasters activities, the satellites monitored the flooding in Japan, Bangladesh, Columbia, India and Indonesia.

 

Also, as part of media monitoring, the train collision consequences in St. Petersburg were scheduled for space filming.

 

Roscosmos continues prompt cooperation with Russian Emergencies Ministry for timely reacting to flooding or fires and performing space monitoring of the affected territories.
