Cosmonaut candidates training enters new stage

September 02, 2020, 13:30 GMT

Cosmonaut candidates of 2018 selection continue second stage parachute training. Konstantin Borisov, Oleg Platonov, Kirill Peskov, Sergey Mikaev, Evgeny Prokopiev, Alexander Grebenkin, Alexander Gorbunov and Alexey Zubritsky train at an aeroclub in Menzelinsk (Tatarstan).

Out of 40 jumps, the cosmonaut candidates have made over a half. During each jump, the candidates conduct a report starting from the drop till the landing.

‘We learn to conduct continuous report even during the most emotional moments – moving towards the door, drop, freefall, etc.’ says Konstantin Borisov, Roscosmos cosmonauts team candidate – adding that it is useful to listen to one’s own report later noting the pauses, slips, unnecessary words, compare time spent on solving tasks.

General space training group has 18 more jumps to perform with additional tasks to do. Cosmonauts team candidates practice sport parachute packing, train jump elements, as well as exercise to pass the tests in September 2020.
